By enrolling in our drama workshops, you and your child agree to abide by this code of conduct and to comply with the terms outlined below:

Drama Workshop Code of Conduct and Agreement

At Ely Classrooms, we are committed to fostering a positive and productive learning environment for all participants in our drama workshops. To ensure a successful and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, we ask that all participants and their parents/guardians agree to the following code of conduct and terms:

  • Respect: Treat all participants, instructors, staff, and facilities with respect and kindness. We expect everyone to demonstrate respect for diversity and to maintain a supportive atmosphere for learning.
  • Responsibility: Take responsibility for your actions and behavior. Act in a manner that contributes positively to the workshop environment and upholds the values of integrity and honesty.
  • Safety: Prioritise the safety and well-being of yourself and others. Adhere to all safety guidelines and instructions provided by instructors and staff.
  • Participation: Engage actively in workshop activities and discussions. Come prepared and ready to learn, and demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with others.
  • Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of workshop discussions and activities. Maintain the privacy of any personal information shared within the workshop.
  • Compliance: Follow all workshop policies, procedures, and instructions provided by instructors and staff. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in consequences, including dismissal from the workshop without refund.

After you book and pay, we will send a confirmation email with the dates and times of the sessions you have booked. Along with this email, you will receive a registration form that needs to be completed online and returned before the first session.

Texts Alive – Exploring GCSE Literature through Film and Performance


Half Day Workshop, 11.00am to 3.00pm (doors open at 10.30am). Maximum group size of 16.

As the end of summer approaches, it’s the perfect time to embark on your GCSE journey with our engaging half-day workshops designed for students starting Year 11 in September. Join us for a creative exploration of Shakespeare and An Inspector Calls, blending interactive learning with exam-focused insights—all in a stress-free environment.

  • Shakespeare (‘Romeo and Juliet’ or ‘Macbeth’): 13 August and 27 August. (Please note: Students will focus on either Romeo and Juliet or Macbeth depending on their current studies. Groups will be assigned accordingly, engaging with different aspects of each text at different times during the workshop.)
  • An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley: 20 August and 3 September .
About the Workshops

Led by experienced English teacher and GCSE examiner Allison Puranik, alongside professional actor John Byrne, our workshops are tailored to help students engage deeply with classic texts. By exploring these works through film clips and live performances, students gain a profound understanding of characters, themes, and context—the way they were meant to be understood.

What to Expect
  • Film Analysis: Analyse key film scenes to grasp exam-relevant themes and interpretations.
  • Performance Workshops: Act out scenes from the texts to uncover new perspectives and insights.
  • Expert Guidance: Receive practical exam tips and a structured essay technique handout to excel in your assessments.

These sessions are ideal for students gearing up for Mock exams and GCSEs, offering a unique blend of academic rigour and creative exploration. Join us and bring literature to life with Texts Alive!

  • Please note that students traveling to Haddenham from Ely or nearby villages can use ‘The Ely Zipper’ service. Please refer to the timetable here for more information.
  • Students are required to bring a nut-free packed lunch and a drink to the workshop. This helps us to accommodate any allergies or dietary restrictions.
