Due to personal circumstances in my last year at school, I was struggling, falling behind with work and missing deadlines. As my A Level English teacher, Ms Puranik was positive that we could get back on track and personally tutored me, with very limited time before exams started. Lessons never felt mundane with her, I was able to go to each lesson excited and wanting to be there. As well as my English teacher, she was also my personal tutor and believed in me and helped me every step of the way, including my UCAS application, personal statement and phoning admissions tutors at universities to discuss my circumstances. Ms Puranik showed me the difference between a good teacher and a great teacher. She genuinely cares about the success of every single one of her students.

Allison undertook at short notice to give Marlowe a series of intensive sessions over Zoom on AS English Literature and AS English Language, to boost both his confidence and exam preparation. I sat in on some of the sessions, and was deeply impressed by the laser-like clarity of Allison's analysis, which illuminated not only the texts under study but the strengths and weaknesses of Marlowe's approach thus far. I was also struck by the warmth of her engagement with Marlowe, her passion for the subject, and the comprehensive range of exam techniques she shared. Marlowe went into his exams not only with confidence but enthusiasm, and emerged with excellent results: English Literature (94%) and English Language (91%) were his two highest-scoring subjects.

As a former tutee of Ms Puranik I was honoured to have such a wonderful tutor. Ms Puranik is more than a tutor; she was my supporter for two challenging years at school. She helped me to write a concise and catchy UCAS personal statement which stood out among the others and helped me to get into my first choice university. Once I had a draft Ms Puranik helped me to structure and re-phrase it, moving it from a good level to an outstanding level. I highly recommend Ms Puranik as a UCAS tutor!

Allison was indispensable in our daughter’s preparation for the English entrance exam for Oxford University (ELAT). She entered the exam calm and confident after just two tutoring sessions and achieved an incredible result of 56/60.

In lessons, Mrs Puranik was always encouraging us to think about the larger ideas behind the literature and then showed me how to bring them out on paper. I struggled especially  with the Language paper because with English being my second language, I was never really sure on my techniques. But a couple of one on one clinics with Miss just before our mock exams enabled me to move from a 5 to a 7 in my Language GCSE and from 7 to 9 in my Literature GCSE.

Ms Puranik was fantastic in helping me achieve the English GCSE grades that I knew I was capable of getting. Ms Puranik was phenomenal in hosting extra English lessons to prepare me for a resit, where I achieved an A*. Without Ms Puranik’s guidance and advice, I would not have been able to achieve these grades and take English further within my academic studies as an A-Level. Empathetic, patient and engaging, I would recommend Ms Puranik to anyone looking to achieve the top English grades.
